“I've worked with Edgar for a few years now across numerous esports organisations. Wherever he goes, he's able to have a positive, genuine impact on teams and players. If an organisation believes in his work over a long period, and gives Edgar the support and room he needs, he can return world class players as a result.”

- Grant R. Team Falcons' Global Director of Esports and European Director of Operations

“Working with Ed has been one of the best decisions I have made to enhance my sporting performance. I wish I had done it sooner, as it definitely gave me the edge I'd been missing for a number of years. Ed helped me to lift a lot of the pressures I was applying to myself, which meant I became much more relaxed and less nervous around performing in front of others.

He also helped me overcome my self doubt and fears of reinjury after suffering with some injuries over the years.”

- Katie P. British Weightlifter

“PSYCH-CHEK has helped me elevate my level and become the best version of myself as a professional.”

- Felix B. LEC League of Legends Player

“Edgar was a fantastic help to our esports players, providing them with a mental support service and structure to perform on a global stage

- Kris L. Manchester City's Head of Esports and Gaming

Still not convinced? Take a look at what people from different roles, backgrounds and sports had to say about PSYCH-CHEK

  • I absolutely loved working with Ed. Each week we delved deeper into my beliefs, questioning them and really figuring out where they were coming from. It really was insightful work. He created a lot of personalised documents for myself too, to give my mind another way to understand the process of what we were discussing, really covering all aspects. I even managed to win England's Strongest Woman under his guidance. Thank you Ed, working with you has been invaluable.

  • I first met Edgar nearing the end of his MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology. He volunteered to deliver a workshop on goal-setting and imagery training at a rugby expo. Upon talking to Edgar, it was clear how passionate and driven he was. It was evident that he had a depth of knowledge and was able to adapt his session to the varying audience members’ abilities and knowledge. Since meeting Edgar I have recommended his services to several other organisations.

Over the last 9 months I have seen Edgar craft his passion and talent into educating and enhancing both coaches’ and athletes’ coping mechanisms, stressors and reflections. He is such a positive influence to work alongside and will be an asset to any organisation.

  • The sessions have helped me keep my mind positive. I have learned how to control my mood, rational and irrational thinking.

  • Before I met Edgar I was low in confidence and didn’t understand certain aspects of boxing when it came to mentally preparing before a fight. For example, I didn’t understand about being confident within myself, visualising and talking to myself when facing adversity. I didn’t understand about my nerves and that nerves are okay to have before fights as long as you’re able to control it and not let them get the better of you.

Since I’ve worked with Edgar I’ve been talking to myself mentally and relaxing because I understand what will be, will be at the end of the day. I’ve learnt to enjoy and be chilled before my fights, whenever I get that small ounce of doubt in my head I talk to myself and start believing in myself (after all nothing matters if you don’t believe in yourself!). Now I just go with the flow and put into practice what Edgar has shown me.

  • I recently had a session with Edgar in order to help me prepare for a white collar boxing match. I was halfway through a 10-week course and genuinely wished I had that session at the start. Many of the triggers and solutions we discovered in my sports psychology sessions would have proved extremely useful for those initial weeks of training. I think going into a big sport event confident is a really vital thing. I’m sure others like me couldn’t really put their finger on when they feel confident or why they feel confident. Edgar managed to drill into what those sources were and thus gave me practical steps to maximise that feeling. I’d highly recommend Edgar for anyone who’s embarking upon a big sporting event! I’ve even found the tactics useful with other aspects of life, such as business. Give it a go, he’s a great guy!

  • During this season I've had the chance to have Edgar as my mental coach. It's been very useful in my opinion because I've learned to keep calm and focus on the game a bit more which has given better results than last year. I would strongly recommend this as I really believe this service improves your game on and off the pitch.

  • I came to Edgar with low self-esteem, which resulted in inconsistent training and a lot of self-doubt. Through working with him I managed to build back some of my self-esteem and gave me tools to go forward and build on that in the future. My training has been more consistent and I have been enjoying it more ever since we started working together.

  • It's been great - you've had a big impact on our player’s confidence and it's clear for both me and others that, in turn, has had a positive impact on the way he plays at LAN events. Also from my POV it's been very easy to manage - professional, no travel issues, always on time, etc. Definitely makes my job easier.

  • Working with Edgar has been crucial in helping me deal with everything that’s been happening not only in this season but also tackling underlying issues from previous ones. Working with Edgar has been extremely beneficial. I’ve learnt a lot about myself and the mentalities I carry into tournaments were previously detrimental on my performance, but I am now a lot more confident that I can handle situations that aren’t favourable and overcome them

  • Edgar has helped me immensely in increasing my awareness of psychology within powerlifting. Not only this, but he explains things in a way which is very easy to understand and then applies it to your own training. His website is great for getting quick, well-written information as well. I am now more in tune with the psychology that runs behind each training session. Being a coach, I can use this to my advantage and help my clients along the way too!

  • Edgar has been an outstanding mentor, teacher, and psychologist. I struggled for a long time with understanding basic concepts of performance - my skills were there, and sometimes they would shine bright, but other times I was lost and confused. Edgar immensely helped me get on track, and perform consistently well whether I was feeling well or not.. Would recommend to anyone!

  • I've found it super useful, he has been helping me an incredible amount to go through rough times and learned to cope better with my emotions.

  • I enjoyed the service as it gives me a place to let off steam and talk to someone with no filter. I would usually be embarrassed at times to talk to others but it's nice to have somewhere to talk about everything and anything whilst getting good quality feedback and ways to deal with it.

  • Yes, even though we didn't have many sessions it really changed something in me when it comes to a tournament. I feel so much more confident; I'm listening to my body and my mind, I don't force things, I rather help myself to get them and there is so much more I can learn. It was a relieving experience as we would just talk about what is happening in my life and how to fix or how to work with some things. For the team is was also helpful in terms on how to work together (mistakes, strengths, communication, etc.).

  • This service was very useful. I came with issues about disappointment, and throughout the months they’ve been worked through thoroughly to the point where I don’t have the same issues anymore. It’s definitely worthwhile.

  • Working with Edgar has been amazing and I have learnt so much! I feel much more prepared and able to deal with stress and emotions. I am also much more confident going into competition knowing I can use the techniques we have practised to focus on performance.

  • Ever since I was a little girl I have struggled with self-confidence and crippling self-deprecation. Never feeling I was good enough or smart enough no matter how hard I tried. Although I have worked on this a lot over the years after my first session with Edgar it was evident that self-confidence was a point of contention, especially regarding my coaching abilities. The service I received from Edgar was outstanding and I cannot thank him enough for his personal and professional approach to helping me understand my mind. This service and the activities throughout have given me the tools to evaluate adversity I face and rationalise the beliefs I have towards myself.

This had a huge positive impact on my thoughts and emotions I have about and towards myself; it has given me an effective process to help quieten my self-deprecating voice. The way I evaluate situations inside and outside the coaching environment is very different and I reach a positive and rational outlook much quicker, sometimes I feel I don't need to go through the process as it feels automatic. The service Edgar offers I would highly recommend, he will listen, respond to your needs and work with you to find what works best for you.

  • After working for a little bit over 1 year with Edgar, I learned how to better myself as a person, teammate, and captain. Edgar helps provide a solution to every issue, while also being a trusted source.

  • Since working with Edgar, my mental approach to training sessions and competitions have changed and improved. I am now aware of why I perform good and what went wrong if I performed bad. I’ve also learnt to take the positives from every situation whether good or bad so I can continue learning and continue to improve. Using visualisation techniques really helped me put in 100% effort into all my sessions to hit targets, which in turn helped me to smash indoor personal bests (which is my weaker event). I’m looking forward to working with him further to see what the outdoor season holds.

  • Thanks Edgar for an insightful and clear strategy of how to prepare the mind for competition. Edgar’s workshop, following interview and written assessment, helped me focus and channel my mind into productive and positive thoughts; reducing stress and anxiety whilst preparing for my upcoming boxing match. I would highly recommend speaking to Edgar to get the mind under control for any major competition. Top work!

  • Edgar really helped me find where I best draw confidence from. I am a competitive powerlifter and often struggle with my confidence when going for maximal loads (even though I am strong enough to do it). After filling in a survey and talking to him, he made me some infographics and explained how I could increase my confidence. One of the things he suggested was to implement positive self-talk to get myself psyched-up. I used this at a recent national competition and went 9/9; personal besting all my lifts. Thank you, your suggestions really helped!

  • I think the service has been useful for me because I have been a lot calmer in high pressure situations and think differently when things are going wrong.
